About Shan

Hello and welcome to Shan’s Herbal!

I have been intrigued by and interested in natural remedies and herbs all my life. I collected various books on natural remedies and enjoyed making my own little concoctions but really I just dabbled here and there.

What really kicked off my journey into the use of herbal formulas was the result of a car crash and the subsequent events that led to my body and health deteriorating.

ShanThe Breaking Point

In 2011 I was involved in a roll over car crash which left my neck, back and shoulder injured. Although I was lucky to be alive, I was in a fair amount of constant pain.

For many years I visited various physical therapists, neurologists, surgeons, and other specialists on a monthly basis, some more than once a month. I became somewhat of a guinea pig getting test after test, injections, and surgeries.

Before long, I was diagnosed with severe advanced osteoarthritis, carpel tunnel, nerve damage, several bulging discs (one that bulged in with contact to the spinal cord), degenerative disc disease, and more. The many medications I was taking on a daily basis were starting to wear on my body and my health was beginning to suffer for it.

I knew this pattern of doctor visits and the rising list of daily medications would continue for the rest of my life if I was not able to find another solution. This realization led me to research alternative measures and eventually to natural methods of healing.

The ‘Ah Ha’ Moment

A few treasured friends steered me in the direction of herbs and I soon found Dr. Christopher’s School of Natural Healing where I eventually enrolled to earn Master Herbalist certification.

It was here I learned everything from how to identify, harvest and preserve fresh wild herbs to how to pair and prepare various herbal formulas to reflect desired changes and healing in the body.

I began the process of using herbs to cleanse my body of all the toxins that had built up over the years. Over time, I was able to slowly wean off every medication I had been taking!

I used herbal combinations to give my body the nourishment it needed to rebuild itself. Slowly but surely I was finally on the road to recovery (and I had a LOT more time since I was not longer visiting all the specialists).

Today I am medication free, pain free, and I have more energy than I ever thought possible – all thanks to the power of herbs!

Spread the Love

Now I want to share the knowledge I have gained and the strategies I used to regain my health and vitality.

My hope is to help others who are in the same downward spiral I was in years ago but also those who are healthy and have a desire to preserve their bodies using natural modalities.

If I had the knowledge I have now I could have saved myself those many years of hardship. I would like to do for others what I could not do for myself back then – show them there are alternatives to orthodox medical treatments.

You can regain and maintain your health with the help of herbs – I am living proof of this!

I have made it my mission to educate people on the power of herbs and herbal formulas.

The Power of Herbs

Not only can herbs give the body the tools it needs to achieve and maintain a healthy profile, but they can be powerful aides for specific ailments and conditions.

Some conditions herbs can be useful for:

  • Ear Aches and Infections
  • Treating and Shortening the Length of the Common Cold or Flu
  • Migraine
  • Weight Loss or Gain
  • Sexual Issues
  • Intestinal Disorders
  • Insomnia
  • Allergies / Hay Fever
  • Kidney / Gall Stones
  • Anxiety / Depression
  • Fatigue / Low Energy
  • Anti-Aging / Beauty
  • PMS / Menopause

This is only a very limited list. All these and even very serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes can be aided with the use of herbs.

Herbs are gentle enough for use with infants and there are even herbs that will benefit our beloved pet companions.

I would be honored if you would have a look around. If you ever need a hand or have any questions or wish to contact me at any time, feel free to leave a comment below and I will get back to each as soon as possible.

If you have experience with herbs I would be excited to hear about those as well!

All the best,

Shan

  1. Hi Shannon,

I have what is called Fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and all sorts of aches and pains constantly. What would u recommend?
I have tried garlic and lemon and honey and turmeric and whatnot over the years, and nothing has helped.
I have been through sessions of acupuncture and acupressure, physiotherapy, and medication. Again nothing!
Do give a thought to my condition, and tell me what I can do.

How did I land up on your About me page? Well, Cassie wrote that Parth has been making waves (as usual, of course). So I read everything he has written. Loved the ones about you ?. I wanted to check out the Empress of Herbs and so I came to your site. And that’s when I discovered that it has taken you personal tribulations and Dr Christopher’s to get to where you are. I’m very impressed.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
    Respects,

    • Hi Aparna,

Great to see you! Thanks for stopping by!

You have a lot of the same conditions I have been dealing with for many years. I will certainly give some thought to your situation and get back to you with some suggestions of what you can try to give you some relief. In the mean time, your first steps are going to be cleansing the toxins from your body and then changing your eating habits and lifestyle as with all autoimmune disorders. I know that’s not what most people want to hear but it is necessary to make change in order to bring about change.

I have sent you a private message with some links for both a 3 day cleanse and an extended full body cleanse that will help you get started. We can talk more about herbal specifics that can be added in daily to help with mobility, pain and regeneration too.

Hope some of the suggestions I’ve given help you as much as they have helped me!
      Best, Shan

    • Hi Glynn,
Thanks, I appreciate you visiting and I hope you find lots of information that will be helpful for you! I am quite certain there are herbs that can be of help with your arm pain issue, however in order to give you some suggestions I would need to know what is causing the pain. It could be a neurological issue or a joint / bone issue. If you could give me further details on your pain or if it has been previously diagnosed, I could certainly suggest some treatments that could be of help for you.
      Thanks, Shan

    • Thanks so much! I plan to greatly expand on the site in the future. I would like to think I am doing my small part to help herbal knowledge spread. Healthcare and medications can be quite expensive. With the help of herbs, many suffering from illness could be brought back to health for a fraction of the cost 😉

I’m a health nut when it comes to dieting and exercises. That being said, I’ve never really tried herbal remedies.
But I’m willing to try it out to see if it will help my eyes. I suffer from Diabetes as well.

    Nice Site

  6. I really like what you have created. I have used natural herbs and remedies and believe there is a much better way to do medicine then the traditional western way we do things now.

I’m a diabetic and use the herbs regularly and am always looking for the best herbs to treat my disease.
Your website is wonderful and I will stop by regularly to see what else you put forward.

    • Hi Brian,
I appreciate the compliment on the site. There are some wonderful herbal combinations that can be of great benefit to those with diabetes. Since diabetes is such a common condition, I plan to cover the issue extensively within several areas of the site.

Before beginning an herbal regiment, any medications you currently take would have to be considered. Changing the diet to combat changes in the body can have a dramatic effect too.

Thanks so much for dropping by!
